Store Opening / Consignment

As mentioned in last month's email, we're aiming to open up a storefront in East Vancouver early this year. We're looking to have the space by February and will open up as soon as possible thereafter. The details are still being sorted and once they are there will of course be an update included in the newsletter. More than a simple announcement, though, this is a call out to some of you receiving this email. If you run a label and/or are in a band: we want to carry your releases. Feel free to send us anything and everything in your catalog and, as long as you are okay with working on consignment, we'll gladly take it all. Consignment can be a shady area for some, if shady characters are involved, but currently we work with over 30 labels/bands on consignment, some who send us new releases/restocks on a regular basis, others who only send one or two releases every now and then, but all continue to trust us with their stock and that we pay properly when releases sell. Consigment deals go a long way in supporting us, and then, by extension, supporting you. If this interests you feel free to send us an email and we'll provide you with all the details and hope we can work something out. Canada Post Rate Increase / General Price Increase

As per annual tradition, Canada Post will be increasing their rates for all US and international packages come January 14th. Increases range from $0.05-$0.20. It doesn’t look like domestic rates are going up, but for those waiting to order anything it’d be best to do it sooner rather than later and save yourself a few cents on some already ridiculous postage rates. They didn’t do it last year, but they’ve been know to increase prices in May as well, so keep an eye out.

With the added costs of opening and maintaining a storefront we have to be realistic and increase the prices of the records we sell. Raising prices is never something anyone wants to do, and up until this point we have priced things quite low due to having little to no overhead. In actuality the newly increased prices are equal to (sometimes still cheaper) than the average distro and certainly cheaper than the average store. Eveything that arrived during the month of December is already priced at the new levels, and the markup seen on the rest of the stock will be as small as pennies and often no larger than one lone dollar. Sorry for the inconvenience to your wallets and thanks for understanding.

Shipping Notes

As we're located in Canada we have to give everyone a few tidbits of information:

1) Canada Post’s rates can be outrageous. Online shipping calculators aren't built with Canada Post's calculating methods in mind, either. If you think shipping costs are too high, email your order and address and we’ll manually calculate the shipping cost and go from there. You pay exact postage (down to the penny) and we’ll refund the difference if overcharged.

2) If you go ahead and process your order, even if you think the shipping cost is too high, we will still refund any shipping overcharges after we ship your order. If you are ordering more than a single item, the shipping quote will mostly likely be wrong. If you don't hear from us after your order then the right price was charged (or it was a matter of pennies) and you should expect your order before too long.

3) We distro at shows and will soon be operating a physical record store. Though we try to update the online stock in a timely manner after local sales, we sometimes can’t get to it straight away. If you place an order and an item is out of stock, you will be refunded for that item and we’ll contact you to see if you want to continue with the order, add additional items, or cancel.
